The Hollywood Reporter this morning reports that the Walt Disney Company is to launch a local, Russian-language version of The Disney Channel, and is looking to additionally produce two to three theatrical features for the market as well. Disney’s recent expansion into localized content has seen big rewards for the company with such hits as India’s animated Roadside Romeo and China’s animation/live-action combo The Secret Of The Magic Gourd. Disney has already had success in Russia with The Book Of Masters, a theatrical film that has prompted the company’s latest expansion.
