Pixar vet Doug Sweetland, Academy Award nominee for his 2009 Pixar short Presto, is all set to direct his first feature length film for Sony Pictures Animations’ The Familiars, reports /Film. Sweetland, who worked at Pixar for 16 years, served as animator on films such as Toy Story, A Bug’s Life, Toy Story 2, Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo. Executive Produced by Sam Raimi and Josh Donen, and based on the children’s book by Adam Jay Epstein and Andrew Jacobson, The Familiars follows the story of three young wizard apprentices who must rely on their animal companions to escape an evil queen.
