Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is finding itself with a respectively smaller production budget than the franchise is used to, the LA Times is reporting. Although still in the $200 million range, it is still costing around $100 million less than the last film in the series, At World’s End. Because of this, a number of things have needed to be done, including less time being spent for Captain Jack Sparrow at sea due to the price of shooting there and fewer special effects shots. Even an extended carraige chase in which Jack is chased through London is being cut down to keep things from going over-budget. The fourth movie in a series that has made more than $2 billion worldwide, On Stranger Tides sails into theaters in the summer of 2011.
