After arguably providing the strongest studio support for its fledgling Blu-ray format, Disney is again to team with electronics giant Sony, this time to provide “consumer and retail education, promotion and marketing support for in-home 3D devices and content”, according to TWICE.com. The initiative is to kick off this holiday season with bundles of the $1bn grossing Alice In Wonderland on Blu-ray 3D, even though consumer and trade interest is said to be low, with many predicting that the world is awaiting the introduction of glasses-free 3D before even thinking of reinvesting in their hardware and software collections again, some for a third or fourth time.
