Guillermo del Toro’s TrollHunters–originaly set to be the first of Disney’s Disney Double Dare You series of films–has now found a new home over at DreamWorks Animation, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting. Reasons for the move are unknown at this point, but the Hellboy director is apparently already making himself at home at the studio, with him serving as a consultant on several upcoming DreamWorks films, including this fall’s MegaMind. When speaking of TrollHunters, Del Toro said that “It essentially combines fairy tales with modern times and is about how difficult it is to be kid. Normally, kids are idealized in animated films. But the growing pains, married with the notion that there is a world right next to us that is completely plagued by creatures of ancient lore, it’s thematically fitting with the rest of my stuff.” The project is currently without a release date.
