Variety reports that Illumination Entertainment, a Universal-based studio, will be creating a CGI feature film based on the children’s novel Flanimals by Ricky Gervias. Gervias is already set to play the lead character, while Matt Slemon of The Simpsons will be penning the script. Flanimals takes place in world populated by species so ugly and misshapen that they appear cute and appealing, with Gervias voicing a particularly moist purple creature. “It will be great to play a short, fat, sweaty loser for a change,” comedian Gervais commented. “A real stretch.”
