Coming Soon reports on Empire Film Group’s recent acquisition of the motion picture and distribution rights for Henson, an original screenplay by Robert D. Slane that chronicles the life and achievements of Muppets creator, Jim Henson. The film will focus on Jim Henson’s life from his early fascination with television as a teenager, through his spectacular career and life achievements.

Although a director has not been offcially attached to the project, Empire Film Group anticipates to hire a major director, such as Penny Marshall, and hopes to attract notable star cast in key roles. Empire has planned for Henson to start production late summer with a budget somewhere around $30 million.
