Variety indicates that a sequel to Sony Pictures Animation’s Open Season will go directly to DVD. The follow-up will focus on the first film’s domesticated dachshund, Mr. Weenie. In the meantime, Sony is still in talks with Season‘s lead voices, Martin Lawrence and Ashton Kutcher, as to whether or not they will reprise their roles for the sequel. Open Season 2 is aiming for a 2009 release.
