The Hollywood Reporter writes that Ed Jones, who recently served as an executive producer for Happy Feet, will produce Escape from Planet Earth for Rainmaker Animation. Directed by Steve Nichols, the comedy focuses on an alien prison break from Area 51. Planet Earth is being financed by The Weinstein Co., who will also handle the film’s worldwide distribution.
