Disney is hoping that a little vegetable will have big business in China. In its first co-production with the state-run China Film Group, the company will release the Chinese-language The Magic Gourd this summer. Featuring computer animation and live-action, the movie tells the Zhang Tianyi tale of “a boy who discovers a gourd – a squash-like vegetable often used in Asian dishes – that grants him wishes.” Hong Kong special-effects studio Centro Digital Pictures will provide the animation for Gourd. Yahoo! News/Associated Press has more on this story, including promotional pictures for the film.
