The following is a press release and photos regarding the ceremony held earlier today where Winnie the Pooh received a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. The event was held in front of the Disney Soda Fountain and Studio Store adjacent to Disney’s El Capitan Theatre and was attended by, among others, Disney CEO Bob Iger and Hollywood’s honorary mayor, Johnny Grant.
Winnie the Pooh joined the greats of Hollywood when he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Tuesday morning, April 11, in front of the Disney Soda Fountain and Studio Store, 6834 Hollywood Boulevard. The event celebrated the fabled bear’s 80th anniversary as well as Walt Disney Home Entertainment’s same-day, first-ever DVD release of their animated masterpiece, Pooh’s Grand Adventure – The Search for Christopher Robin.
Honorary Mayor of Hollywood and Chairman of the Walk of Fame Committee Johnny Grant and Leron Gubler, President of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce presided over the event which was also attended by esteemed guests including Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, and Pooh’s pals from the Hundred Acre Wood – Tigger, Eeyore and Rabbit.
In the Disney Vault for nearly nine years, this enchanting feature-length classic Hundred Acre Woods story has been fully digitally remastered for its DVD debut. A.A. Milne published his first “Pooh” story 80 years ago, and Pooh’s Grand Adventure – The Search for Christopher Robin is based on one of the popular author’s famed original stories.
