Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest took in a record $132 million in its opening weekend, easily topping the previous best of $114.8 million by Spider-Man in 2002, CNN reports. Pirates 2 also gets the distinction of being the only movie to ever top $100 million in just two days. Superman Returns brought in $21.9 million bringing its 12 day total to $141.7 million. Cars remains in the top 5 in its fifth week out bringing in $10.3 million and becoming only the second movie of 2006 to pass the $200 million mark with $205.5 million. A Scanner Darkly “debuted strongly” with $406,000 in 17 theaters.
