With two recent articles, Jim Hill lends insight into some of the animated happenings currently underway at Disney. In “With great power comes… some surprising limitations,” an explanation is given why John Lasseter and Ed Catmull may not have too much of a say regarding Disney Consumer Products. In other words, while the duo had the power to close Chicken Little II: The Ugly Duckling Story and Dumbo II, they may have very little input regarding the Disney Princess and Disney Fairies brands, including The Tinkerbell Movie and its sequels. Hill also speculates that the box office performances of Doogal, Valiant, and Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit may have inspired studio executives to make certain humor changes to Flushed Away, My Friends Tigger and Pooh, and the Mary Poppins Broadway show
