A 2008 Broadway musical based on the DreamWorks hit Shrek is readying for a staged reading to be held on February 23, 2007. Rehearsels for the one-day event are scheduled for February 12. Playbill indicates the Dreamworks Animation and Neal Street Productions collaboration will feature music from composer Jeanine Tesori and lyricist David Lindsay-Abaire. Tim Hatley will manage costume and set designs for Shrek, while Hugh Vanstone will tackle lighting. On October 28 at 10 a.m., folks may audition for the roles of Shrek and Donkey at Manhattan’s Ripley Grier Studios, 580 Eighth Avenue on the 16th floor.
In related news, Coming Soon has acquired a high-resolution image of the princesses Cinderella, Snow White, Fiona, Rapunzel and Sleeping Beauty from Shrek the Third. A smaller version of the picture, from USA Today, was reported last Thursday.
