Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit wins Best Animated Feature Oscar
Academy Voters Are ‘Crackers’ About the Celebrated Clay Animated Duo’s First Feature

Associated_Press (88k image)GLENDALE, CA – (March 6, 2006) – DreamWorks Animation SKG and Aardman’s Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit was named Best Animated Feature at the 78th Academy Awards, announced last night at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood. The honor marks the fourth Oscar for the film’s director and Wallace & Gromit creator Nick Park, who has won three previous Academy Awards for Best Animated Short, including two starring the much-loved clay animated duo -- the cheese-loving Wallace and his faithful canine companion Gromit. This is the first Oscar for director Steve Box.

"Aardman are so delighted at the Oscar win, this is the highest accolade for the film,” said Nick Park. “Both Steve Box and myself are just overjoyed and feel very privileged to have won this award. The crew at Aardman deserves this recognition for all the fantastic work they put into making Curse of the Were Rabbit such a success around the world.”

The film, which features the two enterprising chums using all their wildly imaginative inventions to try to capture a mysterious beast of epic and fluffy proportions, is available worldwide on DVD.

DreamWorks Animation and Aardman Features are currently working together on the computer-animated comedy Flushed Away, set for release in theaters November 2006. Blending Aardman’s trademark style and characterizations with DreamWorks’ state-of-the-art computer animation, Flushed Away is a madcap comedy set on and beneath the streets of London.
