According to Yahoo! News, citizens of Bristol, England, are hoping for statues of Wallace and Gromit to be erected in their town in celebration of their multiple Oscar wins. “Matthew Symonds, a local councilor in Bristol where Nick Park and Aardman Animations created the now-famous pair, said it was time to recognize the contribution that Wallace and Gromit have made to the city in southwest England.” If they make the statues are we going to be able to see the fingerprints?
Speaking of winning the Oscar, an image of the pair sporting the same bow ties designed by Paul Smith and worn by Nick Park, Steve Box and their two Oscar statues can be seen here, as well as a statement from Nick Park:
“Aardman are so delighted at the Oscar win, this is the highest accolade for the film. Both Steve Box and myself are just overjoyed and feel very privileged to have won this award. The crew at Aardman deserve this recognition for all the fantastic work they put into making Curse of the Were Rabbit such a success around the world. And of course it was great to have Peter Sallis with us at the awards, he has been the voice of Wallace for 23 years and I can’t thank him enough. Last but not least, we are so thankful to Jeffrey Katzenberg and everyone at DreamWorks for their amazing support.” – Nick Park
