The schedule for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con has just been released and there’s a whole bunch of stuff to get worked up about for animation and film fans. Check the link for the full exhaustive program, including the official announcement of an extended edition of Peter Jackson’s King Kong, while some bite-sized highlights include:

Thursday, July 20th

-Margaret Kerry Voice Actor Tryouts: the rotoscope model for Tinker Bell gives a chance to test your voice acting skills.

-A First Look at Flyboys: a sneak peak of the FX-heavy World War I action-adventure film.

-Sony Animation: previews of Sony Pictures’ first two features including panels for Open Season and Surf’s Up, plus screenings of Monster House in 3D.

-Warner Bros. Animated Features: a look at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Ant Bully and Happy Feet, with filmmaker appearances.

-Spotlight on Greg Weisman: the Gargoyles creator talks comic books and shows.

-Random! Cartoons and Tomorrow’s Hit-makers: Frederator Studios shorts programs (including Jerry Beck’s Hornswiggle).

Pinky And The Brain/Animaniacs: DVD screening with panelists Maurice La Marche and Rob Paulsen among others.

-ASIFA Presents: Dream On Silly Dreamer with director Dan Lund and producer Tony West.

Friday, July 21st

Hellboy Animated: be the first to experience the new project with clips and a Q&A session.

-Ray Harryhausen: the legendary visual effects artist discusses his career and current projects (including the colorization of She).

-Warner Home Video’s Superman Through The Ages: including a reunion with surprise guests and extended exclusive footage for Superman II – The Richard Donner Cut, Q&A with Marc McClure, Jack O’Halloran, Tom Mankiewicz, Michael Thau and more, plus super-secret guests from The Adventures Of Superman, Lois And Clark, Smallville, Superman The Animated Series and Superman Returns!

-Bruce Timm Retrospective/Legion of Super Heroes: a retrospective on the creativity of animation legend Bruce Timm, who will talk about his 20-year career, screen selected scenes from his body of work, and take part in a Q&A, plus a sneak peek at Legion of Super Heroes, the new Superman-themed half-hour adventure series.

-Universal Home Video: King Kong Deluxe Extended DVD: a sneak peek from the upcoming King Kong Extended DVD will be introduced by a message from director Peter Jackson.

-Warner Home Video Forbidden Planet 50th Anniversary Celebration: presentation and Q&A with the stars from the landmark science fiction classic.

-The Jim Henson Company: Power of the Dark Crystal: current and upcoming productions including panelists Brian Froud, Genndy Tartakofsky and Scott Stewart to talk about the much-anticipated sequel feature Power of the Dark Crystal plus other upcoming shows.

SNL: Saturday TV Funhouse: join Robert Smigel for a presentation and discussion about the upcoming DVD release of SNL: The Best Of Saturday TV Funhouse, featuring clips as well as notable “lost” cartoons, banned from the airwaves forever.

-Worst Cartoons Ever: Jerry Beck presents an all-new, all-hilariously bad collection of the worst animated cartoons ever made – all real, all unbelievable!

-Spike & Mike Sick and Twisted Festival of Animation: vote via applause for your favorite short animations, with Spike, animators, and celebrities in attendance to introduce the show.

Saturday, July 22nd

-Gumby’s 50th: celebrate 50 years of magical fun with Gumby creator Art Clokey, son Joe Clokey, as they talk about their experiences, answer questions, and talk about upcoming projects including a special announcement you’ll hear here first!

-State of the Animation Industry: top leaders discuss the current state of the animation industry and give insights in to the future of the field.

-Bradbury, Harryhausen and Ackerman: three legends and lifelong friends reminisce about life, science fiction, fantasy, movies, and more.

-Cartoon Voices I: a demonstration of the fine art of talking for cartoons with Maurice La Marche, Greg Berg and Alan Oppenheimer among others.

The Spirit Movie: a major announcement regarding the new movie featuring the beloved comics action hero, coming to the big screen via a unique adaptation of Will Eisner’s engrossing story of a masked detective believed to be dead and operating out of a mausoleum, fighting crime in the dark shadows of Central City with his fists, cunning, and ingenious forms of punishment.

-Disney Previews From Narnia to the Caribbean: previews of never-before-seen footage from the upcoming four-disc limited-edition Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe DVD, plus an insider’s look at the making of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. Exclusive Comic-Con collectibles from these films will be made available to all who attend.

The Animation Show featuring Mike Judge and Don Hertzfeldt: Mike and Don Hertzfeldt pick their favorite animated shorts from previous Animation Show tours with a sneak peak of the new upcoming theatrical program. Mike and Don will be on hand with special guests for a Q&A and big announcements regarding the new tour!

Sunday, July 23rd

The Tick Belated Tenth Anniversary: the animated series’ creative forces discuss the cult classic that will finally debut on DVD this August 29. Join them for a discussion and Q&A session.

Brother Bear 2 World Premiere: those moose are loose in Disney’s all-new motion picture, along with your favorite characters and some new friends, in a hilarious adventure of destiny turned upside down.

-Cartoon Voices II: a mainstay of Comic-Con’s Saturday programming slate, here’s an all-new Sunday edition of Cartoon Voices, hosted by Mark Evanier and joined by vocal impressarios Billy West, April Stewart, Bob Bergen, Kimberly Brooks and Wally Wingert.

-Treasures from the ASIFA Vault: the Animation Archives has a massive collection of animation and animation memorabilia going all the way back to 1917, just 11 years after the creation of the animation process. See images of animation treasures and watch rare films from the largest nonstudio animation archive in the world.
