Today marks the release on 2-disc Platinum Edition DVD of Disney’s The Little Mermaid. The film that ushered in Disney’s second Golden Age of animation has not lost any of its lustre and is presented very handsomely in this well-crafted package. The following are several screen shots from the set’s many bonus features including a virtual journey though the Disney theme park attraction that never was (I’m casting my vote for the ride to still be made sometime), visual development art, character development art, and the stunning Kay Nielsen conceptual art from 1940. The pictures shown here barely scratch “break” the surface of all the contents made available on this eighth release in the prestigious line of The Walt Disney Studio’s most beloved animated classics.
