The Walt Disney Company and Britain’s BritishSkyBroadcasting have announced a new partnership that will see the introduction of two new channels for UK viewers. In addition to the Disney Channel, Playhouse Disney, Toon Disney, ABC and Jetix channels already on air, the new deal adds one new Disney channel, Disney Cinemagic (which will featuring its library of classic and contemporary animated films) and ESPN Classic, which will showcase historic sporting events much like its US counterpart. In related news, Disney and BSkyB have also announced plans to work together in bringing Disney content to Sky’s upcoming high definition channel rollout and to its legal movie download service. The deal extension gives Sky the HD and on video-on-demand rights in addition to its current pay-TV and pay-per-view agreement.
