The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that The Triplets Of Belleville director Sylvain Chomet has departed Universal’s animated adaptation of The Tale of Despereaux to work on a more personal project based on an unproduced screenplay by the French master comic Jacques Tati (Mr Hulot’s Holiday). Chomet’s replacement on Universal’s Despereaux is Mike Johnson, who shared a Best Animated Film Oscar nomination with Tim Burton for last year’s Corpse Bride.
