USA Today writes that Justin Timberlake has joined girlfriend Cameron Diaz, Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Antonio Banderas for Shrek 3. Timberlake will play a young King Arthur, nicknamed “Artie,” a rebellious high school student who does not want to be king. Thus, Shrek must teach the teen how to act like royalty, according to Shrek 3 producer Aron Warner, who adds that “in teaching Artie to be king, Shrek has to overcome his deep-seated fear of being a father.” However, though “there is a baby involved,” it may not necessarily be Shrek’s, as had been expected. “We’ve got to leave something for a surprise,” Warner remarks. Shrek 3 is scheduled to open on May 18, 2007.
