Courtesy of the Wall Street Journal, via the Pittsburg Post-Gazette, talk has begun once more that Disney may purchase Pixar. Other ideas being considered are that Disney might buy a minority stake of Pixar, or that Pixar could grant Disney participation in the performance of its future movies in exchange for sequel rights to its existing film library. The article points to a recent interview, in which Disney CEO Robert Iger stated, “I’ve concluded that for the [Walt Disney Co.] to be successful long-term creatively, it must get animation right. That does guide a bit of what we end up doing with Pixar but it’s not fully determinate. … The nature of the deal is what is most important, it’s not whether there is a deal or not.”
