At the age of 85, Henry Corden died of emphysema on Thursday night, at AMI Encino Hospital. Though he voiced several characters during his lifetime, Corden will be especially remembered as providing the voice of Fred Flintstone, following the death of original voice actor Alan Reed in 1977. Television series in which the actor voiced the loveable head of the modern stoneage family include Hanna-Barbera’s Flintstone Family Adventures and The Bedrock Cops, among many other Flintstones series and television specials. Corden also gave Fred his singing voice, while Reed still gave the speaking role, in the 1966 special Alice in Wonderland or What’s a Nice Kid Like You Doing in a Place Like This?, in addition to the feature film The Man Called Flintstone, which was released in theaters the same year.
