Released on home video and DVD tomorrow, Disney-Pixar’s The Incredibles is shaping up to be one of the biggest sellers of the year. DVD Toons weighs in on the 2-disc set with a full in-depth review. “Pixar’s latest walks that fine line between spoofing the very genre it also wants to be a part of, and celebrating it. Luckily, The Incredibles comes away totally successfully, albeit with affectionate swipes”, says the review of the film itself. Of the DVD, things don’t shape up to be as incredible: “For the most part, the DVD delivers, but Jack-Jack Attack didn’t stand up to repeated viewing, and though the film was well marketed with stylish artwork and those “First In Line” spots, they are all inexplicably missing here. A fine addition is Boundin’, which really treats this wonderfully whimsical and unique short with the respect it deserves”.

The site also takes a look at a recent entry in the new Miyazaki wave, Nausicaä Of The Valley Of The Wind, commenting that the film is “a heck of a ride. Despite the fantasy/sci-fi trappings of the story, the events seem startlingly real, thanks to the beautiful animation. Disney has done a great job transferring to DVD and, given the past Region 1 Miyazaki DVDs, this is a nice little set of extras”.
