In news that should shock no-one when the box office figures are taken into account, Fox has announced a sequel to last year’s CGI take on the Garfield comic strip. At this time details are sketchy, but Coming Soon has a tentative release date of July 28 2006, with director Tim Hill (presumably of Max Keeble’s Big Move, Muppets From Space and writer of The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie) at the helm. No word yet on any returning cast members, or if Bill Murray will again voice Garfield.

In other cartoon-to-live-action news, Warner Brothers is said to be currently casting for the big-screen adaptation of The Jetsons, with rumor that the Studio is waiting for Steve Martin to come on board and play the role of George Jetson. As with previous Hanna-Barbera features, the film will bring CGI into the mix. The Jetsons Movie looks to be in the pipeline for late 2006.
