DVD toons has a look at two upcoming DVD releases that offer toons both unique and undiscovered to many people. The more controversial of the duo, Cartoons for Victory, contains twenty World War II-era animated shorts, many of which were meant never to be seen after wartime. Produced by a number of different countries, these cartoons reflect the attitudes of their period. Hence, most of them have been shelved, lost, or forgotten since the mid-1940s. Cartoons for Victory, however, provides the shorts digitally remastered from original 16mm and 35mm films. Meanwhile, Cultoons glimpses fourteen attractions that include cartoon characters, animated advertisements, and educational films that have long been abandoned. Both Cartoons for Victory and Cultoons will hit stores next Valentine’s Day.
