From Box Office Guru comes the news that averaging a mild $2,596 from 2,966 theaters, Son of the Mask came in at fourth place this weekend, taking in an estimated $7.7 million. By comparison, Jim Carrey’s The Mask opened in 1994 with $23.1 million, ending up with a domestic gross of $119.9 million. Nonetheless, Son of the Mask suffered from the absence of both Jim Carrey and good reviews.
Meanwhile, coming in at eighth place was Pooh’s Heffalump Movie, taking in an estimated $4.4 million. Down an understandable 24% in its second week, the Disney film has collected $11.7 million after ten days.
