Ultimate Disney has a new DVD review up today – this time around it’s for the Special Edition 2-discer of Simba’s Pride. “Lacking the power and prestige of its predecessor and the clever irreverence and humor of Lion King 1½, The Lion King II feels like a traditional animated sequel. But, to its credit, Simba’s Pride happens to feel like a very good traditional animated sequel, easily surpassing the great majority of Disney’s direct-to-video fare.” Like the Lion King 1½ DVD, this 2-discer seems a bit light on the extras, although one highlight is the animated short One by One; previously set to appear in the now-cancelled Fantasia 2006, and featuring the “One by One” Xhosa song by Lebo M from the Rhythm of the Pride Lands soundtrack.
