The BBC reports that a new animated version of the classic children’s story The Little Prince has been greenlit by Pathé Pictures, one of the producers behind Chicken Run. Francois Ivernel, managing director of Pathé, said “The Little Prince’s magical words and images are deeply rooted in the imagination of generations of children around the world. We intend to make a feature film that uses the very best animation techniques and talents.” Written by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and published in 1943, The Little Prince “tells of an airplane pilot who crash-lands in the Sahara desert and meets a young boy who claims to be a prince from a distant world”. The article mentions that Pathé is also “working on a film of The Magic Roundabout featuring the voices of Robbie Williams and Kylie Minogue”.
