C21 Media reveals, “DIC Entertainment’s president Andy Heywood is heading to Copenhagen next week to finalise a deal that will bring a new animated series based on The Trolls characters to television screens around the world. Heywood will meet with the creator of The Trolls – which were popular characters in the 1970s – to sign off on the series, which he hopes to be pre-selling at Mipcom in October. He told C21: ‘We are also looking to develop a series based on Formula One racing this year. It’s an idea from my son, which I think has real potential. There are so many big brands involved with this class of motor racing outside the US.’ DIC is upping its coproduction activities, having developed a number of successful projects with international broadcasters including TF1, M6 and Televisa over the past few years. With its new DIC Kids Network, set to launch across the US this September, the company will have a syndicated three-hour programming block reaching 40% of American viewers.”
