By the end of last week, DreamWorks’ Shrek 2 passed Spider-Man on the all-time domestic grosses list, with a take of $404.3m, beating the webbed wonder’s $403.7 pull in 2001. On the worldwide board, Shrek 2 just passed Toy Story 2‘s $485m gross with a $485.3m cume so far, and is nipping at Aladdin‘s $504.1m gross at number 30, and Monsters Inc at 27 with $525.4m on the worldwide grosses list. Coming up hot on all those heels is Sony’s new Spider-Man 2, which just had the biggest opening day ever (Wednesday’s $40.4m), putting it on track for a record shattering $178m take by the end of the July 4 holiday weekend.
