If you don’t like your choices of candidates for political office when election time comes you can always write your own candidate on to the ballot, even fictional characters, as did citizens in a recent Bulloch County, Georgia, election. The Big Cartoon DataBase reports that animated characters Spongebob, Goofy, Snoopy, the Three Stooges, and Mickey Mouse all received votes as write-in candidates in the county’s primary elections held last month. None of the characters won, however, due to not having filed an official notice of candidacy the day before the election. Maybe they’ll be more on the ball when the next election comes around.
