At Cartoon Research, Popeye fan club president Fred Grandinetti provides a negative review of the Popeye: The 75th Anniversary Collection DVD set. His verdict is, “For those who remember watching these cartoons growing up and can look past the ghastly animation in many of the episodes selected (Popeye and the Giant and Muskels Shmuskels, for example), spend the money. While the better cartoons in this series of 220 episodes are also included (County Fair and Gem Jam among others), the quality of the cartoons is uneven at best.”
