The Video Premiere Awards reviews The Lion King, saying, “Disney takes the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead route (for those who know the Tom Stoppard play that shows Hamlet from the point of view of two supporting players) for its second DVD premiere movie follow-up of The Lion King—and the results are just flat-out funny. The animation isn’t as lush as in the original theatrical film, but with this cast and script, viewers who notice will quickly get over it. That said, the sound is excellent with DTS and Dolby Digital options, and the picture looks great. And if you thought The Lion King’s ending was great, you ain’t seen nothin’ until you’ve seen The Lion King’s send-off.”
