Following our story that DreamWorks seems to have more animated films in various states of production that it can shake a stick at, comes news, courtesy of ‘MusicFan’, that there are no less than five more projects lined up. The already known-about Master P: Kung Fu Panda has had a new trademark registered, and various new domain names tied up. The film, based on an original pitch from writers Cyrus Voris and Ethan Reiff, will be produced at Pacific Data Images, and tells the story of a kung fu-fighting panda who battles against a gang of snow leopard bandits that have come down from the highlands to invade the bamboo jungle.

For updated news on several other new DreamWorks properties, including Space Monkeys and Chicken Run 2, read on here:

Two other projects registered, The Shadow Project (a mix of live-action and CG, about an evil force who upsets the balance between the intersection of human and shadow worlds, and the shadow who drags his human counterpart into the shadow realm to set things right) and Toad Trip (a Shrek-esque tale of a human turned into a toad, with John H. Williams again to produce this live action/CGI hybrid) both look to be cancelled at this time. More intriguing is Space Monkeys, which, set in the 1950s, centers on a team of monkeys involved in the NASA space program. DWs only registered the domain in January, so it would seem the production is still in development. Surprisingly, it was pitched by Ash Brannon, formerly of Pixar, who may also be on board to direct.

Finally, DreamWorks also registered a domain in the name of Chicken Run 2. Again, no real details on this yet, so it could mean anything – but are the team at Aardman looking to return to Tweedy country after completing the Wallace and Gromit movie The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit (originally titled the much more Wallace-centric The Great Vegetable Plot)? What with Rex Havoc And The Atomic 8, Mike Of Arabia, Giant Gingy and further instalments of and Shark Tale also in the pipeline, it seems we’ll be enjoying animation from DreamWorks for a good few years yet!
