Dan Whitney (AKA Larry The Cable Guy) is to play to a “new crowd” in 2005, when he provides the voice of a tow truck in the upcoming Disney/Pixar film Cars. Speaking to the Sioux City Journal (subscription required), Larry, whose voice was heard by director John Lasseter after hundreds of auditions, says “That’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever done. Even the big stars want to do a Pixar movie. That’s something when I get kids that they’d enjoy”. The piece includes confirmation that “trailers for the movie, whose cast includes Paul Newman, Owen Wilson and Bonnie Hunt, begin running this fall”.
