Many critics are saying that the game should have never been started for UPN’s Game Over, the first computer-animated primetime show on broadcast televison. Though most enjoy the show’s animation and voice performances, many find the script lacking. “Shows about video-game characters, like the games themselves, ought to be fun,” writes David Bianculli in the New York Daily News. “Game Over never gets to that level. Not even close.” “About as interesting as watching other people play on their Xbox. Or PlayStation 2. Or PlayStation 1, for that matter,” writes Phil Rosenthal in the Chicago Sun-Times. Still, Noel Holston in Newsday calls it “clever and colorful” and “UPN’s best hope ever for a fresh new hit.” Experience the new show for yourself, as Game Over premieres tonight at 8:00 on UPN.
