Via Variety, Coming Soon! reports that Billy West and Kathy Bates will provide the voices of Popeye and his archenemy Sea Hag/Siren in Popeye’s Voyage: The Quest for Pappy, a Fox network special, set to air at the ending of the year. Paul Reiser and Jim Hardison co-wrote the 30-minute special, while Mark Mothersbaugh will create a new version of the classic theme “Popeye the Sailor Man.” King Features will begin a multiplatform marketing campaign for Popeye’s 75th anniversary in the next few weeks, starting at next week’s Toy Fair in New York. A teaser campaign starring the new CGI Popeye is also set to begin soon. King Features remarked, “We may also do more specials or series or even an animated movie. It’s all yet to be determined.” Featuring an hourlong version of the special, the Popeye’s Voyage DVD will be released on November 9, through Lions Gate Family Home Entertainment.
