According to the Big Cartoon Database, after seven years of barking on Nickelodeon’s Blue’s Clues, Blue will finally speak to audiences, in the episode Legend of the Blue Puppy, airing February 8, at 8:00 p.m. In the episode, Blue visits a playroom where she is transformed from a cartoon into a puppet who can speak.
In an interview with the New York Post, Blue’s Clues co-executive producer Wendy Harris explains, “Blue talks only in this new world and speaks directly to the kids at home. Legend of the Blue Puppy will explain why Blue is her color, and will tell other facts about her life. It takes place at night, and we find out about the history of Blue as a puppy — how she was born a very special puppy because she’s blue and different from the other puppies.”
Supplying Blue’s voice is 12-year-old Victoria Pontecorvo. “We wanted Blue’s first words to be wonderful because everybody relates to her voice, and we spent a lot of time to find that voice. Victoria is a great actor, and her voice is very playful and sincere,” says Harris.
