The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciencens has announced the list of seven films that are being considered for nomination for the Oscar for Best Visual Effects at the upcoming Academy Awards. They are: The Aviator, The Day After Tomorrow, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, I Robot, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, and Spider-Man 2. Conspicuously left out was The Polar Express. The actual three nominees, along with the rest of the Oscar nominations, will be announced on January 25, 2005. The Academy Awards ceremony will take place on February 27, 2005.
