The British Academy of Film and Television Arts have just completed the presentation of this year’s British Academy Awards. Animation did not feature strongly this year, with Belleville Rendezvous (The Triplets Of Belleville) losing out to In This World for Best Foreign Film, and Finding Nemo losing Best Original Screenplay to The Station Agent. Jojo In The Stars won Best Short Animation, while Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl picked up Best Make-up And Hair. Awards for Best Cinematography. Visual Effects and Adapted Screenplay went to the animation and effects filled The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King, and though the film lost the Best Director award to Peter Weir’s Master And Commander, it did win for overall Best Film. The sponsored Orange Film Of The Year, voted by the general moviegoing public, also went to The Return Of The King, beating out Matrix Reloaded, Pirates Of The Caribbean, X2 and Finding Nemo.
