The Big Cartoon Database reports that a New Zealand government-funded study into violence on television has revealed the most violent cartoons on television- and the results may surprise one. Shows with the highest incidence of violence were the animated series Classic Cartoon, CatDog, Aladdin (TV2), New Woody Woodpecker Show (TV3), Rugrats, Action League, The Angry Beavers (Nickelodeon), and Pokémon (TV3). These shows were measured by the most graphic violence, “where pain and harm were judged as extreme for most of the program and without humor,” as reported by the New Zealand Herald on Saturday. According to study chairman Dr. Rajen Prasad, a violent act is any action which causes physical harm to a person or an inanimate being. Providing thirteen incidents an hour, Nickelodeon was revealed to have the highest level of violence.
