In a strange new twist on the marketing business, an animated fictional character is sponsoring Clay Aiken’s nationwide tour, which has just started, reports Toon Zone. Well, kind of. It seems Disney is lending financial support to the events to promote its upcoming Aladdin: Special Edition DVD, to which a new song has been added. The song, Proud Of Your Boy will also be included in a pop single version as an extra music video clip, as sung by Aiken, as part of the cross-promotion deal. “I love Clay Aiken’s performance and I was knocked out by the strength of his talent”, says composer Alan Menken. “To have this lost song, so dear to my heart and so vital to my collaboration with Howard Ashman, finally brought fully to life is a dream come true”.
