The American Film Institute will “count down America’s 100 greatest lines of dialogue spoken in the movies, as chosen by experts of the motion picture community, in a three-hour television event on the CBS Television Network in June 2005”. AFI’s Director and CEO Jean Picker Firstenberg said, “Great movie quotes become part of our cultural vocabulary. When you consider that any phrase from American film is eligible, you realize this is our most subjective topic to date. We expect nothing less than a war of words as we re-ignite interest in classic American movies”.

Four quotes from animated films are on the ballot of 400 nominated movie lines:

QUEEN: “Magic Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?” Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Disney (1937)

THE BLUE FAIRY: “A lie keeps growing and growing until it’s as clear as the nose on your face.” Pinocchio, Disney (1940)

JESSICA RABBIT: “I’m not bad. I’m just drawn that way.” Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Touchstone (1988)

BUZZ LIGHTYEAR: “To infinity and beyond!” TOY STORY, Disney/Pixar (1995)
