I’m not sure what this says about Britain’s moviegoing public, but The Guardian newspaper today reports that “after two weeks, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed has taken in more than The Passion Of The Christ in five”, with Scooby still at number one in UK cinemas with a $15.6m pull and Mel’s epic stuck at number four with just over $14m. The paper continues that this is in “sharp contrast to their relative fates in the US, where Jesus rose again to be back on top for Easter ($353m – now the eigth highest grossing movie of all time) and Scooby-D has stalled at seven ($63m)” after three weeks.
