Robert Longbottom, a 2003 Tony Award nominee for Best Choreographer, has been chosen to direct the new Disney Theatricals show On the Record, according to Playbill’s report of a Variety story. Longbottom “conceived the idea for the new musical with Disney’s Thomas Schumacher”. As we reported yesterday, the show will feature songs from classic Disney films as well as Disney’s Broadway shows. The musical, set in a recording studio, will travel the country and may play on Broadway as well. Longbottom’s Broadway credits as a director/choreographer include his Tony Award nominated Flower Drum Song, Side Show, and The Scarlet Pimpernel. As a performer he has appeared in productions of 42nd Street, Little Johnny Jones, and Me and My Girl.
