Peter Jackson, readying himself for the release of the last in his epic special-effects filled Lord Of The Rings trilogy, The Return Of The King on December 17th, is already looking towards his next project, a grand re-telling of the King Kong story, as well as a long-rumored return to Middle Earth. In Berlin to promote the European premerie of the last of the Rings, the director mentioned to Reuters that he would like to direct J.R.R Tolkein’s prequel to the series, The Hobbit, if the complex rights issues surrounding the book can be resolved. “I’d be interested in doing it because I think it would give continuity to the overall chapter,” he says.
