Here’s your Animated News staff Peanuts specialist, Christian, checking in with a report from the Toon Zone Forum that a third Peanuts Christmas special, I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown! will be airing on ABC on December 9. The show will focus on Rerun van Pelt (voiced by Jimmy Bennett), the younger brother of Linus and Lucy, and his quest for yuletide canine companionship. Producer/director Bill Melendez will continue his four decade streak as the voice of Snoopy. And, yes, cult favorite Pig Pen will be appearing as well.

The much beloved classic A Charlie Brown Christmas will be airing a week earlier (December 2) on the same station. It appears that they have left the second special, It’s Christmastime Again, Charlie Brown, out of their broadcast schedule, but it can be found as a bonus feature on the A Charlie Brown Christmas DVD, and is recommended viewing for sometime between the 2nd and the 9th of December.
