‘MusicFan’ in the Animated News Forum pointed us towards Done Deal’s sales page, regularly updated to provide information on the hottest selling scripts and treatments in Hollywood. Seems that Disney Feature Animation has just bought the rights to Which Witch?, a novel by Eva Ibbotson that tells of a wizard who “realizes that before he retires, he must find a wife. He holds a contest in which all the world’s witches compete by performing their most outrageous spells”. No news on the format of the film, or any start or release date.

In related news, the same site also states that writer Craig Mazin’s deal with Miramax’s Dimension Films for Scary Mvie 4 is part of a two-script arrangement. “The seven figures paid is part of deal with Opus“, the feature film based on Berkeley Breathed’s Bloom County comic strip. If this is the case, then we would be seeing the Opus movie coming from Dimension, through Miramax – owned by Disney! A previous animated special, Opus ‘n’ Bill In A Wish For Wings That Work, was animated by Amblin Entertainment and UCS in 1991.
