The BBC this Wednesday evening will air a 40-minute documentary which looks at the current state of the animation industry, at 10.35pm on BBC1. The Imagine series (covering a wide variety of artistic and cultural projects and people) has so far been an intelligent show, going to the top people in the field for information. This week’s From Pencils To Pixels starts way back at the beginnings of American animation, with Winsor McCay’s Little Nemo and brings the story up to date with Pixar’s latest, Finding Nemo – “from Nemo to Nemo”, if you will. Being a British show, it’s not just a case of going from mouse to mice (well, whatever the plural of a computer mouse is anyway!), also interviewing and touching on the work of Aardman’s Nick Park, creator of Creature Comforts and now hard at work on the first Wallace And Gromit feature.
